Donatoni Macchine at Salone del Mobile 2019

Even this year Donatoni Macchine wanted to attend, as visitor, to understand the new market trends and see how marble and stone are used by designers, architects and companies to furnish and embellish homes, buildings and public spaces.

Salone del Mobile is the most important furniture and design fair in the world, it takes place every year in Milan during the month of April.

Even this year Donatoni Macchine wanted to attend, as visitor, to understand the new market trends and see how marble and stone are used by designers, architects and companies to furnish and embellish homes, buildings and public spaces.

Marble and stone remain the ultimate materials used by the most prestigious luxury brands to create tables and bathrooms furnishings surfaces or to design textures of any type, geometric rather than irregular or rounded. In particular, we have noticed a growing use of stone for the construction of small and medium-sized furniture objects, such as lamps, containers of any type and shape, shelves, vases and other commonly used objects. Up to 10 years ago marble was relegated to a limited range of applications, while today, thanks to new processing technologies, in particular CNC machines, we are able to make objects that were previously made manually.

Stone is combined with traditional materials such as briar root, glass and crystal, which are part of the new collections to create contrasting materials and colors in furniture.

We are pleased to note that there are more and more companies in the stone industry joining the fair as exhibitors, companies that have started a path of development that leads them to be not only marble companies but also design companies.

However, visiting the various booths and the different areas, we realized that the great technological capacity of CNC machines is not always fully expressed in the production of furnishing objects.

Our suggestion to dare more with the stone is not aimed at companies in the stone sector but at clients, who should go beyond the usual solutions and develop ambitious projects that allow to highlight the beauty and uniqueness of marble and stone in general.
