A story that began in 1959

Giorgio was born in 1963 and grew up in this environment, following his father in the workshop since he was a child. Sitting in the Fiat 127 with his brothers, he observes, listens and absorbs. Without knowing it, he is already building the foundations of his future. As a boy Giorgio has clear ideas: he wants to work.

He prefers direct experience to school desks and chooses to challenge himself immediately. Entering the workshop isn’t easy, but that’s where you learn the value of commitment, precision, and responsibility. The days are intense, sometimes tiring, but full of lessons. Every mistake becomes an opportunity to understand more, every problem a challenge to face.

In the workshop Giorgio meets Sergio, a key figure in his journey. He is the one who instills in him method, patience and passion for the work well done. Thanks to this meeting, Giorgio also discovers the world of marble processing machines, an industry that will soon begin to fascinate him more and more. From that moment on, work stops being just effort and becomes curiosity, experimentation, a desire to improve.

In 1976 the family moved to the new headquarters in Domegliara, at Passaggio Napoleone. At the time, it seems like an area far from everything, but that very space becomes a huge breeding ground for ideas and projects to grow. This is where the business of overhauling and reselling used machines was born: a true laboratory of technical creativity, where every machine is dismantled, understood, improved, and put back into operation.

Working closely with customers in the marble district, Giorgio learns a lesson that will become central to his philosophy: a machine must not only work, it must work better and longer. Thus, an approach is born of attention to detail, listening to real needs and continuous search for practical solutions.

In 2001 came the idea destined to mark a turning point: rethinking the bridge cutter, introducing a 360° rotating head on a fixed bench. A courageous insight, combining field experience and a desire to innovate. The first machine takes shape step by step. It’s not just a technical project, but a bet on itself.

The machine works, convinces and immediately finds space with the first customers. Nights spent imagining improvements and solutions become a natural part of the journey. Enthusiasm grows, as does the awareness of being on the right path.

Donatoni Macchine was born in 2008. Giorgio chooses to give a precise shape to his vision: a lean, innovative and customer-oriented company, capable of proposing concrete and reliable solutions. It is the beginning of a new phase, made up of new products, new challenges and great satisfactions.

Experience teaches that for those who work marble, time is precious. This is why Donatoni Macchine builds its identity on a fast, competent and customer-friendly service. A relationship based on trust, which grows machine after machine. Over the years, the company expands: new spaces, new departments, new skills. Growth is steady, but always driven by the idea of remaining flexible, fast and concrete.

Over time, Donatoni Macchine has brought its expertise beyond Italy’s borders, opening offices and branches abroad starting in 2022. The goal remains the same: to be close to customers, wherever they are.

In 2024, Giorgio symbolically returned to his roots, acquiring the family’s historic workshop and the surrounding area from his brother Andrea. It is a natural passage, uniting past and future in a single continuous line.

This acquisition creates new spaces dedicated to a larger warehouse, specific product lines, and above all, a department entirely dedicated to customer service, as Donatoni Service was born.

Today Donatoni Macchine looks forward with enthusiasm. The company continues to evolve, maintaining a young and dynamic spirit. Alongside Giorgio are also his sons, Luca and Davide, ready to bring new ideas and new energies. The story that began in a small workshop continues, with the same spirit as always: passion, ingenuity and desire to do.
